Ming Tang has been Dragon Boat racing since 2004 after trying it out for the first time during a Dragons Abreast Corporate Regatta. Ming quickly took up the sport joining Canberra Navmat.
Since 2004 Ming has accomplished a great deal and have undertaken a number of roles. He has made contributions to the sport while in the following roles:
- Served on the Navmat Committee as Publicity Officer (2005-2006) and as treasurer (2006- Present)
- Navmat Assistant Coach (2008 - Present)
- ACT Fire Masters/Grandmaster Team Manager (2006-2007)
- Australian Grade 1 Official
- International Dragon Boat Federation Grade 1 Official
- CDBA Treasurer (2009 - Present)
Ming has worn the Green and Gold on many occasions paddling in overseas competitions:

- Yichang, China
- Chongzhou, China
- Tianjin, China
- Hong Kong-
- Vladivostok, Russia
- Zhuhui, China
- Zhanjiang, China
- Zhaoqing, China
- Guangzhou, China
- Macau,China
In his career, Ming has achieved many qualifications, among which are B.Sc. M.Def.Studies and M.Eng.Sc.
Currently Ming works as a liaison officer with the Department of Defence. He says that his most memorable Dragon Boat experience is completing a 35km paddle down the Yangtze River, starting from near the 3 Gorges Dam in China - Took over 3 hours of non stop paddling but taking in the beautiful scenery to forget the pain along the way.
