There is an annual subscription for cdba membership, which is currently
$100 ($50 for secondary school students). The cdba teams may also
have their own annual subscription. The membership year runs from
september to august.
This subscription fee covers the cost of the boats, paddles,
life jackets, insurances, regatta costs and everything else that
happens with the dragon boating.
the fine print
dragon boating is a water sport, and there are a few things you
need to be aware of:
- you should be able to swim 50 metres unaided in the clothes
you will be wearing in the dragon boat. if you can't then you
must wear a personal flotation device when in the dragon boat
- you have to be willing to take instructions in paddling and
water safety
- there is a risk of injury, possibly even serious injury or
death from participating in the sport of dragon boating, but
you have to be willing to accept this and participate completely
at your own risk
